Oh My God... Like I knew Kaneki was going to go through a drastic transformation but I'd never imagined the costs... And screw all the people who are simply cheering the fact that he has become a white-haired badass rather than weak and timid, I have never felt so sorry for a character... I mean I don't deny that he is a badass. But, oh God, that scene. Just... horrible. Brilliant, but horrible. My eyes were as wide as tennis balls. My heart felt like there was a cement block sitting on top of it. Oh My God... Like I knew Kaneki was going to go through a drastic transformation but I'd never imagined the costs... My heart felt like there was a cement block sitting on top of it. Poor, poor Kaneki. I don't think people are nearly as sympathetic towards Kaneki as a person, as much as they should be, particularly since long-time manga readers just want to keep seeing badass main characters. But I laud this series and its author for its brilliance not just because of the drastic character transformation but because of how easily we are able to put ourselves in Kaneki's position and sympathize with him even before then - a position I would never, ever, ever want to be in, no matter how much I love white hair and badassery. This manga is going to end up shattering my soul, I just know it...

This was the most shocking, gruesome, painful volume of Tokyo Ghoul (at least so far?) I remember in the first chapters (1st volume I suppose) when Kaneki compared himself to Gregor Samsa when he turned into a ghoul, but oh boy THIS was his intense transformation!! Kaneki-kun being tortured was distressing and just awful. It kept me at the edge of my seat. My eyes popped out while I was reading it. My heart was beating faster (so cliché) and of course chills run down my spine. Oh poor Kane This was the most shocking, gruesome, painful volume of Tokyo Ghoul (at least so far?) Tokyo Ghoul and Attack on titan will be death of me.

This volume somehow made the story way more complicated and also more boring. Honestly, I'm not sure why I keep reading this series.

From now on, nothing will be the same, and i'm so excited to see what is going to happen next, especially because the second season of the anime was so confusing.

OMG...Kaneki... The big transformation happened. Kaneki has endured so much suffer and torture that he finally snapped. His mind is a mess, filled with desire of revenge, anger, sorrow. I felt sorry for him. It was really hard for me to read the torture scenes. Especially when the tortured one is my preicious character. If I were Kaneki, I would die from heart attack. I can't get the drawing, who kicks who, who punches who... I mix up everything. That is why I like anime for action scenes. I wish Kaneki could be okay again.

OMG! Where do I start with this volume?! I think I am traumatised…I’m not joking! Volume 7 is incredibly dark and I know that Tokyo Ghoul isn’t all sunshine and rainbows and daises but this one is something else. It’s made of nightmares, and flesh-eating bacteria and insomnia… From a purely plot POV, there isn’t an awful lot that happens; however, one of the main things occurring is Kaneki’s hair turning white having been subjected to the sick and twisted torture devices of Yamori. These scenes are really harrowing btw…so if you are of a sensitive disposition, you might find these episodes uncomfortable and/or upsetting. Yamori is one of the vilest characters I have EVER come across – he is a sadistic and evil ghoul who feasts on other ghouls (a cannibal) and relishes inflicting pain on others. Elsewhere, Mr Yoshimura, Touka and the rest of the Anteiku clan are attempting to infiltrate the Aogiri’s Tree fortress and rescue Kaneki. (I was in for a HUGE surprise when I saw who one of the clan was – let’s just say, they are also as revolting as Yamori!) Overall, I can understand why this volume is necessary since it depicts Kaneki finally accepting his ghoul side thanks to Yamori’s twisted ways (and Kaneki does get his revenge) which is especially nice to see but it wasn’t my favourite volume in the series so far.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Omg it finally happened...white haired Kaneki and the transformation is grueling yet beautiful. How far did he have to be pushed to never be the same again? Pretty damn far. Yamori...Jason, deserves every bit of brutality that Kaneki gives him. No mercy, no respect and no kindness. Rize, even as a figment, was the part of him that finally made him truly accept who he is.....oh and can't wait to meet the one eyed Owl Ghoul

2.5* This volume was all over the place, and I didn't care for it as much as volumes that came much earlier. Hopefully, this series gets better instead of continuing down the downward spiral it started last volume on.

LOVED IT. Definitely one of my favorites so far. The transformation of Ken was horrible to witness and I feel SO sorry for him because of what he was going through, but I'm really curious to see what he is capable of now. I can't wait to read the next volume!

Holy moly! Was this my favorite volume yet? I think yes! This one was so gruesome!! I have a taste for the macabre and this volume definitely fulfilled that (and then some). I really liked having more background on Kaneki as well. I really loved #7 and I just flew through the pages. So good!

SUPER FAST REVIEW: This volume is one that I have mixed thoughts with. Some parts are really exciting, bad-ass action scenes! Some parts are slow AF scenes of people flapping their gums about for pages and pages, rambling about things I barely cared about. Anyway, art’s still sweet and the story is... okay so yeah I’m still continuing with this series. 3/5

4.5 stars. Well now who could it be? That lives inside of me? That was beautiful. Oh my god. Listening to the anime soundtrack while reading this in order to commemorate the Season One finale only made it that much sweeter. My favourite soundtrack ever, by the way. And I listen to a fair bunch of soundtracks. This is the Tokyo Ghoul I fell in love with. It was so good. And emotional. And gruesome. And holy shit amazing. The anime followed the manga relatively closely, though there were many littl 4.5 stars. Well now who could it be? That lives inside of me? That was beautiful. Oh my god. So none of the events of this volume were new to me, but they were told in slightly more depth so that they still hit me hard. Please remember the 'me', the way I used to be. *cries hysterically* Yeah I don't know what else to say. It was epic. Worst thing would be that the fight scenes are still confusing, so that's a recurring annoyance. But they either got a little bit better this volume or I'm just not caring as much anymore. This was really gruesome. I hate the transformation that Kaneki had to go through, I feel so sorry for him, and I feel that he's beginning to lose his humanity more in this volume.

Really REALLY graphic. Like seriously. This series keeps getting more graphic in the violence department. Holy hell. There was a bit of an art style change - it's a style I'm not used to seeing in manga. It's not terrible, but it took me a while to get used to it in this one. They change Kaneki's hair color in this one - and it's not that noticeable. I was only able to know because they actually talk about it.

Solid plot. This seems to be a transitional point for Ken's character. Interested to see where it goes. Am I in a squeamish mood or was this more violent than the earlier books? Maybe I'm just more bothered by torture than people ripping each other up in fights.

I'm so sad for kaneki. What did he did to deserve this? It is so sad how broken he is now. It kills me that even if he changed he only did it to protecet the persons he loved and he is still doesn't want to be a monster but if he doesn't he won't survive.

Kaneki looks so innocent after he came out of that torture room! You would never expect him to be the one who weakened Yamori.

The white hair warrior is BORN! So Ken is being tortured after the last events of volume 6. It's pretty disturbing to watch, and seeing him being put through this slowly is disgusting. We also get the doves coming in just murdering the shit out of the people hurting Ken. Funny enough, they just in there to kill them, not rescue him. That's for ward 13 to do. So got a three way war basically with more Ken in the middle. Well poor, until he flips, and becomes more Ghoulish. Good: Loved the turn. T The white hair warrior is BORN! The change in Ken's character makes sense but doesn't COMPLETELY change him. I think the pacing is near perfect. Little info dumps here and there but mostly the action tells the story and the dialog between characters. This sets up a new future for a few characters too. Bad: I think the art is solid but some of the fight scenes are really hard to follow. Overall this is a great volume. This changes a lot of things. I also love the turn of events. This is probably my favorite volume of series so far.
